I bought this because I had to (required for class). I really enjoyed it. They made it very engaging and easy-to-read.

The authors have a knack for explaining things. I do not have a neuroscience or much of a cognitive science background but was able to grasp the material without issues. A stimulating and readable treatment of the subject matter.

    Description

Cognitive Neuroscience: The Biology of the Mind (5th Edition) is a comprehensive and widely used textbook that explores how the brain gives rise to the mind. Written by Michael S. Gazzaniga, Richard B. Ivry, and George R. Mangun, this edition integrates cutting-edge research from neuroscience, psychology, and cognitive science to explain perception, attention, memory, language, emotion, decision-making, and consciousness.

The book emphasizes the biological foundations of mental processes, combining evidence from brain imaging, neuropsychology, electrophysiology, and studies of brain-damaged patients. The 5th edition is updated with the latest discoveries in neural networks, genetics, brain plasticity, and modern imaging techniques, making complex concepts accessible through clear explanations, real-world examples, and vivid illustrations.

Designed for students and readers interested in understanding how brain structure and function relate to behavior and cognition, this book serves as an essential resource for courses in cognitive neuroscience, psychology, neuroscience, and related fields.
